In between our weekend in Belfast and two nights in Dublin we spent a week in the countryside near Ardcath. There was not much to see around Ardcath, plus we felt the need for a break from touring castles, churches and ruins, so we had a very laid back and quiet week. Read more
Leaving the farm loft in County Antrim we enjoyed a city break in Belfast (Béal Feirste), the capital and largest city in Northern Ireland. The drive from Ballycastle to Belfast is less than an hour and we had time to spare before checking into our apartment so we took a scenic route enjoying the countryside. Read more
After Donegal our route took us north and west towards the town of Ballycastle in Northern Ireland. Our apartment, Molly’s Loft, was 10 minutes south of Ballycastle surrounded by quiet farmlands with fabulous views of the hills, and close to many attractions on the coast of Northern Ireland. After almost a month in County Cork and County Kerry we made our way north up the west coast of Ireland. Our farm stay near the town of Lahinch is close to the Cliffs of Moher and the town of Doolin. We had one week here hoping there would be a day with decent enough weather to hike along the top of the cliffs. Read more
The morning after we arrived in Kenmare we stopped in at the tourist office for a chat and the lady on staff suggested it was going to be a good day to drive the Ring of Kerry from Kenmare to Portmagee. This disagreed with our weather app, but she’s Irish and maybe she knows better…..nope!! Read more
